Ceramic Butter Bell

To use a butter bell, you can follow these steps:
  1. Prepare the butter: Soften the butter so it's easy to press into the lid. You can divide a stick of butter into 2–3 segments.
  2. Fill the base with water: Pour cold water into the base of the butter bell up to the fill line. The water level should be about 1 inch deep, or 1/3 cup.
  3. Pack the butter into the lid: Press the butter into the lid, making sure to remove any air pockets. 

    4. Replace the lid: Turn the lid upside down and place it back on the base. 

    5. Change the water: Every few days change the water with fresh cold water.
    6. Store the butter bell: Keep the butter bell away from hotspots and lights to prevent melting or spoilage

you can use a butter bell to keep butter, soft and spreadable at room temperature the water acts as a cooling factor and a barrier to keep the butter away from the air. Some recommend using salted water in the butter bell because salt can help inhibit, bacterial growth, butter bells are usually hand washed with warm water and mild soap, but some models are dishwasher safe.
